Lifestyle Home Garden’s antidote to the recession

Lifestyle Gardens Following hot on the newly beaten track of the “Credit Crunch” gardens of the Chelsea Flower Show in 2009, Lifestyle’s leaner and greener ‘recession’ show gardens are definitely not going to show a sharp fall in style.

Since they were first staged in 1997, the Lifestyle show gardens have increasingly become the focus for garden design innovation reflecting current trends and will make up an impressive and inspiring selection for visitors to enjoy.

Students at Lifestyle College have come up with 10 cost effective and easy-to-implement gardens.

The show will be giving green-fingered ideas and tips on how to prune your budget while showing how everything can be cleverly combined to produce a garden that is functional, beautiful and a true extension of the living area.

Lifestyle has supported Rand Water’s Water Wise initiative for many years, recognising that water is the gardener’s best friend. The showgarden that best showcases Water Wise principles will be singled out so the public can see these principles in practice. Given that Water Wise gardening is both low maintenance and environmentally friendly, it embodies the “leaner and greener” theme to a T.

For the eleventh consecutive year, CHOC – The Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa – and Lifestyle Home Garden will partner together, raising funds from the sale of the Lifestyle Garden Design Show portfolio. The funds raised from the sale of the portfolio are used to purchase medical supplies, provide transport, upgrade and maintain the CHOC home.

The full colour portfolio details all the gardens, providing insight into the rational behind each garden, plant lists and some tips on how you can achieve the same look in your own garden.

The events program runs in conjunction with the show and has an exciting line up of talks, demonstrations and events set to inspire readers and let them in on some trade secrets.
